100 Days of Service Kickoff Part of The Center for Health Affairs' Centennial Celebration

The Center for Health Affairs kicked off its 100 Days of Service initiative Friday, May 8 as part of their year-long celebration marking 100 years of hospital advocacy in Northeast Ohio.

The 100 Days of Service initiative is an organization-wide pledge to “give back” 100 days to the community. Employees at The Center and its business affiliate, CHAMPS Healthcare have pledged to volunteer at least 100 days over the next year as part of its corporate service activities and at individual service activities of their choosing.

As an organization, The Center and CHAMPS have coordinated four 100 Days of Service corporate activities to take place over the next year. The first corporate activity took place Friday, May 8 at Cleveland's Habitat for Humanity ReStore West where 13 employee volunteers spent a day assisting with the dock area, processing donations and purchases, bringing donations into the ReStore and assisting shoppers on the store floor.

"I think it's fitting we are being encouraged to use a workday to give back to the community," said Rachel Polchek, marketing coordinator for The Center and CHAMPS. "The service we provide to organizations like Habitat will help strengthen our community, a key component of the vision we've set for ourselves at The Center and CHAMPS for nearly 100 years."

Additional corporate events planned for the 100 Days of Service initiative include volunteering at Buckeye Breakaway in August, assisting at and walking in October's Making Strides of Cleveland, and serving meals at City Mission Meal Providers.

As part of this initiative, The Center and CHAMPS are documenting their service activities to be part of a video celebrating the organization's 100th anniversary. Employees are also sharing their work on social media using the hashtags #neohospitals100 and #100DaysofService.
