Why We Became WellLink—and What That Means for Our Mission

Brian Lane blog

Over the past two months, you may have noticed something different about us. A new name. A new look. A new way of talking about the work we have been doing since our origins dating back to 1914. While the brand may be new, our mission — to improve health and well-being across the communities we serve — remains as strong as ever.

So, why the change? Why WellLink? Simply put, we needed a name and identity that fully reflected who we are today and where we are headed. Our organization has evolved significantly, from a regional player into a growing, mission-driven enterprise with national reach. We needed a brand that could grow with us, and more importantly, a brand that could clearly connect the dots between our many areas of impact.

That’s where WellLink comes in. The name speaks to our purpose: linking people, organizations, and solutions to strengthen health and well-being. It is a name that carries energy and clarity, and that honors our roots while embracing innovation and progress. It reflects our role as a connector, a collaborator, and a catalyst for better outcomes.

What We Do and Why It Matters

Our work at WellLink spans multiple focus areas, all grounded in the same belief: that healthier communities begin with stronger systems, smarter partnerships, and a shared commitment to equity and access.

Here are just a few ways we bring that belief to life:

·        WellLink Health Alliance works hand-in-hand with healthcare providers and community organizations to tackle the big-picture issues that impact care, like social determinants of health, workforce development, and public policy.

·        WellLink Group Purchasing helps healthcare providers, nonprofits, educational institutions, and public-sector organizations stretch their resources further by offering access to competitively sourced contracts and cooperative purchasing strategies. This allows our members to save both money and time, so they can focus on their core mission and invest their savings in creating and sustaining jobs.

·        WellLink Innovations supports bold ideas and new approaches, whether it is convening stakeholders to solve complex problems or piloting tools that help the healthcare system work better for everyone.

Each of these areas supports our broader vision: a future where health and well-being are not privileges, but expectations, no matter who you are or where you live.

Looking Ahead

This post is the first in a new blog series I’ll be writing as part of our commitment to staying transparent, thoughtful, and engaged with our partners, members, and the public. In the months ahead, I will be sharing more about what we are learning, what we are building, and how we are working together to make health and well-being more achievable for all.

As always, we are grateful to be on this journey with so many incredible partners. Thank you for trusting us, challenging us, and working alongside us.

Here’s to what we can build — together.
